Default 31's on stock discoI?

i need new tires. will my 96 disco fit 31's on the stock suspension, or do i need to keep them a little smaller? what about width? will 10.50" rub real bad on turns?

basically, whats the biggest i can fit on the stock suspension?

If you are still running stock springs then you are probably at least an inch or more lower then when the truck was new.
Consider replacing the coils and shocks with some OME's and then start looking at a 245/75/16 or maybe a 265.

31's might "fit" but not too well. also, i think that width is too wide for stock rim ideally and may rub just because it's tread corner reaches the big arms too soon even if it weren't 31".

so, the stock tire size in michelin xpc is realy great unless you add the old man emu springs/shocks as mentioned above. i did a simple medium duty which added about 2" allowing the tire size mentioned as well, 245/75-16 in a bfg AT and MT on another set of rims. they rub as well unless you back off the steering stops. your turning radius will now reduce as well but you'll have more clearance under the body as well as half the height of the tire size increase. that particular tire size isn't too wide either but is more appropriate for the D1.

no other mods are needed if only going 1-1/2" to 2" more on the springs but beyond that starts to affect other aspects of the linkages and gets you into all sorts of things to change to make it all work.

Am I mistaken or do D IIs have the ability to fit slightly larger tires than the DIs? It's hard to validate what I hear from various sources.

I have OME springs that are same height as stock and run 245/75/16 I had to trim the
inside rear fender at the back about a inch.
The outside fender is unchanged.
