Default 98 Discovery - Loose fan blade, fan clutch, and spool??

Last week my serpentine belt broke! So i got a new one and replaced. When I put the new one on I noticed the front spool, fan blade, and fan clutch were loose. Leading me to the reason for my belt break as it came off the spool due to lean. Mechanic says it is my fan clutch, but i do not see how a new fan clutch is going to tighten my entire clutch, fan, and spool back tight/straight. Please let me know if you have seen this happen or know if a new fan clutch will tighten up the whole assembly. ???

What is the process for changing out the fan clutch??? What is the best tool for gettting the big bolt loose between fan & spool?

You need to make sure your water pump hasn't blown up. This sounds like when my water pump grenaded on me. How many miles? Is the whole shaft and assembly loose? If so your water pump needs to be replaced, it supports the entire assembly (fan, clutch, shaft).

Bad water pump, the bearings on the shaft have gone bust.

Default Yeah! Think your right

Yes, the whole assembly is loose, so i am concluding that it is my water pump.
What are the proper steps for changing the water pump?

Is it possible my fan clutch is still good?

Thanks,

Yes it is possible that your fan clutch is still good.
As for the water pump, unbolt it, clean the mating surface, bolt on the new one.
