Default ACE

I have an 02 D2 with 70k. If you have ACE in your truck, should the light on the instrument panel light up when you out the key on position II. That is what the manual says. Mine does not. Can it be the fuse or something else.

Rolando,
You got me to wondering, so I went out and checked mine.
The ACE light only comes on when it is overheating.
Speaking of the ACE, have you ever serviced yours, if not you should consider doing that or it will give you very expensive fits.

Good advice Mike. I had so many problems with mine after the third pump I gave up and had to bypass it. No more problems now!

Mike - Can you share the procedure for servicing the ACE? The stealer put the fear of god in me by telling me never to mess with it or it will get contaminated. I have 85K on my D2 with ACE. Thanks!

Do the ACE and power steering fluid at the same time.
Go to the auto parts store, buy 6 quarts of Vavoline's synthetic p/s fluid, 1 bottle of Lucas p/s additive and one turkey baster from their battery department.
Suck all the fluid out of both reservors, fill with Vavoline, start the engine, turn the steering both ways to the stops, stop the engine, suck all the fluid out and refill, do it 3 times. When done add 1/2 a bottle of Lucas to each and top off with the Vavoline.
Done

Hi,

The main thing with ACE is to renew the filter in the block. Its simple enough to do, just ensure you clean all the external components before removing the filter, thisis to avoid ANY dirt or debris getting into the system. The filters "sometimes" are known to be well stuck in, but they do normally come out ok, they are removed by screwing in a M6 bolt to pull it out, but dont "twist" it, just a straight pull.
Renew filter and "O" ring, refit cap and tighten to 15lbs ft

Then its simply check the fluid level and top up as needed after running the car for 2 mins.

Also, the dash ACE light "should" light with the ignition in postion 2, then go out after 2-3 secs. It performs a self check when the ignition is initially switched on
