Default Aftermarket '03 Bumpers

I'm getting ready to put an aftermarket steel front bumper on my '03 Disco, and was curious what others are using, and their experiences. Mounts for lights aren't essential, but recovery points, and winch mounts are. I'm currently leaning towards the Rovertym SlimLine, but want to hear from others, before dropping a big chunk of change.

Thanks in advance for all of the information and opinions.

cheers,
rich

I have a Borttof. It looks cool and military. For about $550 shipped it is the best economical deal going for a full Steel front bumper. I ended up selling my factory LR bumper on eBay for $625. So I ended up making some money. These are all the accessories I added. 3 hoop bars. D-Shackels, Fog light cutouts, Running light tabs, Full winch tray. Its sturdy and wieghs in at about 110lbs.
Here is link to a good front bumper thread. Pictures of mine are included.

Also check out RTE for their bumper. What sort of lift will you be using to carry that extra weight and will you be using a winch?

Thanks for that input, Mike. I had completely forgotten about RTE. Currently, I have the 2 inch spacer kit from Toddco (stock springs/shocks up front), because for a variety of reasons I wanted to keep the SLS, and at the time this seemed like the best solution. I'm not a hardcore 4 wheeler, which I guess is obvious as I have an '03. I do want the metal bumper to protect the truck from my mistakes/inexperience, and also a winch to help when I get in over my head, exploring the mtns of NC.

cheers,
rich

You will definitely want to upgrade your suspension... the bumper weighs about 100 lbs and the winch another 90 +/- lbs. Your stock suspension won't handle the added 200 lbs very well.
