You can charge it your self for $20 with a can maybe 2 can from walmart there is a certain Number of pounds for the system . Comes with a little guage very easy to do FYI they could not have filled it up all the way or you have a leak. A leak down test was recomended to locate leak, make repair, then refil and you should be fine.

From the autoparts store, get a can of freon with stop leak.
Connect it to the fitting labeled LOW or LO.
NEVER to the HI side. You'll explode the can if on the hi side.
Get a meat thermometer.
Put the thermometer in the cool vents.
Windows up.
A/C system on LO
Fan all the way UP on high.
Watch the temp on the gauge.
Put in a little freon - about 10 seconds worth then disconnect.
On the LOW side.
Temp goes down - good.
Do it again.
Do this until there is NO more improvement.
Note -
If you keep putting freon in - and too much
the temp will start to rise again.
There is a certain amount which is optimal.
Too little - warm air.
Too much - warm air and compressor is going on and off and on and off
due to pressure too high.

A/c not cooling
It was a can of the freon from the parts store with the gauge. It was at 25 when he hooked it up. Said it should be 45. Got it to 45 and disconnected. It did make the air somewhat cooler. Just not what it should be. With the heat we have had I have to keep it on lo setting with fan on high and if you are in the back seat, you are not going to get cool. Also there is a difference in temp on driver's and passenger side. Both are st to lo, but the passenger side is warmer than the drivers side.
