Alternator Woes
Hey Guys,
Just a quick question for y'all.
My alternator will not start outputting until I rev the engine past 2k or higher. Had the voltmeter hooked up and when I start it and ir stays at around 11-12v. Once I rev past 2k, it jumps to 13-14v and stays there until I turn off the engine.
I have learned to raise the rpm right after starting to get it working, but thought I would ask some opinions here or if anyone else has this issue.
Thanks!
Jamie

Clean your battery terminals...
And maybe a new battery.
If you are jump starting your truck from another, then this is probably it.---
IF your battery is good and the terminals are clean..
Alternator could be bad..
also - make sure your belt is routed correctly and the alternator pulley is getting enough rubber on it.
