ARP Head Studs

Anybody use these? I see at least two options; a set for the 215" Buick V8 engine (124-4003), and then a part # 157-4301, specifically for the Rover 3.5L and bigger...for about twice the price.

Any opinions? I've personally always went with the studs over the bolts on aluminum motorcycle case applications...you just DON'T want to be pulling on the weak threads in the bottom end. (duh!)

I use them. dunno on the differences between the 2....length? we don't have buick heads. I have seen some 300 heads used on the rv8 I tr8 forum soooooooo

When you search online, the 124-4003 kit is listed as Buick/Rover. Kit LOOKS like it has all the parts that come in the 157-4301 kit...plus some extras. 6 longs, 14 shorts...plus 8 extra shorts and 28 nuts and washers...for about 25% less.

I'm thinking maybe ARP could be sticking it to the foreign owners?

I recently installed them. Picked up a set from Summit. I hear Lucky8 has the most competitive pricing. They were back ordered at the time I needed them. Figures.

There was a thread not too long ago comparing the two sets. Run a search for it.

The cheaper set has all the ones you need plus more.

Zach and the boys measured them they are the same.

Thanks, Zach!

I kinda thought that might be the case. You can score the Buick/Rover set (124-4003) on eBay for under $140 shipped. Nice little savings!;)

This is what you need.

Lucky8 Llc. - Take the road less traveled...

They are the best price I found. I installed these just over a month ago. No issues. Easy install. Has all you need. Do NOT get the more $$$$ kit.

Has anyone replaced the bolts with the ARP studs and retorqued them WITHOUT pulling the heads and HGs (one at a time, of course)?

ArmyRover Dec 15, 2014 06:23 PM

Never done it on a rover but I did on my mgb the shop manual calls for it. Following the torque sequence of course
