Bad Fan Clutch?
#12
I'll have to check them later, but can you hear them inside with windows down? 'Cause when i was sitting at the drive thru idling, I didn't hear anything that sounded like a fan. But I will visually check later. Do they come on automatically when you turn the air on or is there a delay?
Better yet, if I let it idle to operating temp or just above, they should kick on then too?

The ONLY reason the electric fans on a DI run is when the a/c is on or the truck is in a overheat situation.
If the truck is in a overheat situation then the fans will come on even if your a/c is not on and will stay on even after you shut the engine off until the coolant temp is less than 200-210*F.
And yes, you will hear them running, even with the windows up if you turn the stereo off.
They are pretty loud.

Rip that one out and install the correct temp t-stat before you destroy your engine.
When the engine runs to cold you will get less mpg because the truck will run to rich and it will carbon up your exhaust valves and you WILL be doing a valve job.
Did I mention that it will lower your mpg?
I mean 10% reduction in mpg easily, plus a valve job.
So add up the 10% more gas that you are buying and the price of a valve job.
Replace the t-stat.

Yes, 10 degrees will do all of that, wont happen overnight, but it will happen.
And I forgot to mention your catalytic converters, when the engine runs to rich it dumps extra fuel down to them and then they run to hot and destroy their guts.
the cooling system on a car, any car, is a vital part of how well the car runs.
The cooling system on a DI is very efficent and as long as it is in proper working order needs no help from anyone.
Remember...the only difference between your Rover and one that is sold in the Middle East where it gets to be 130*F in the shade is nothing.
