Default Bad reception on AM band, stock radio

I get a lot of static and interference from electric lines when listening to AM radio on my stock unit in my 03 Disco II. Anyone had this problem before?
Thanks, Ken

I dont listen to AM, check and see if your antenna is messed up, it is the wires on the back side window.

I have the same problem on my 03 and have heard from another user here that theirs sucks too. I think its just poor antenna/radio design. I've recently purchased a small AM/FM antenna amp kit from Ramsey electronics. Plan to build it soon and see if it helps.

Nothing more annoying that losing reception under every single overpass/powerline/semi.

I get all the talk, news and sports I want with my sirius and I don't get interference from overhead lines. Occasionally I'll lose signal in a tunnel but that doesn't happen much.

I don't know if the D2's are the same set up as the D1 but if so it uses 2 cables from the antenna. No idea why because when I put my Alpine radio in I only used one of them and get better reception than the stock radio with both hooked up. But I changed out my stock radio for the Alpine so I can listen to my Sirius and Ipod through the radio. Plus my Alpine gives a lot more volume even with the factory amps still in the system.

I am in Knoxville, TN....we used to have to listen to AM in order to get anything sports. We now have a full time FM sports station. It is nice.

I have the Sirius, about the only time I use it is during the summer when minor league baseball is being broadcast over our sports station. The Sirius radio is cool, there is just something I like about listening to local channels.
