Stay away from the rebuilt crap on E-Bay, go to British Parts of Utah for a good price on theirs or find a local auto electrical shop that will rebuild your's.

Because they are absolute junk!! I went through 4 in 2 years, all were replaced under warranty.
The last one I returned for a full refund because I was tired of replacing them every 6 months and they were tired of giving me "new" alternators for free.
However I have alternator replacement time down to under 30 min.

The majority of people who buy re-mans. return then sometimes as often as 2 or 3 times. I have spoken to a few people who said the hell with it and got their money back.
The 2 cheapest and best ways to resolve his problem id to find a local shop that will rebuild it, even boost the amps to as high as 200 amps for under $200 or get a new one from British Parts of Utah for $265.

That BOSCH alternator is $244 at Rockauto.com, but I'm all for buying from the good rover guys, just add other cool stuff to you order at the same time.

The first 2 were from AutoZone and the second 2 were from Advance Auto.
It does not matter where you get them from, I did alot of investigating during my troubles and found out that there are only 2 places that rebuild alt's for all of the major retailers.
AutoZone used "X" re-builder and Advance used "Y", they were both junk.
The last rebuilt alt I used died on my 1500 miles from home on the return of a 2400 mile trip.
I had thought ahead and brought a used alt with me, bought a cheap $10 socket set and used a pair of pliers to change the alt in a church parking lot.
That was a year and a half ago.
