Battery warning light won't go out

Battery warning light won't go out
Replaced the battery, checked alternator (okay), and battery light won't go out. It did go out at first after I drove it for about 5 minutes, but came back on after 10 seconds or so, and it repeated this process once. Is there a computer reset procedure required here?

Can't say I'm positive and plan to take it to a local reputable alternator shop for their testing if the problem persists after finishing up checking everything else out (grounds etc.). I'd rather spend comparable funds to rebuild than replace with an aftermarket one.

I would take it off the vehicle and take it to a parts store, and/or a good alternator shop. I was unsure about the fit of my alternator and took it to 3 chain type stores, then finally a good alternator shop. The chain stores here use an automated machine that runs it through some tests, gives you a "pass/fail" answer and some numbers on test results. You don't have to have much training or specialized knowledge to operate the machine. Mine passed, but none of the guys at parts stores could give me any info on how good or bad it was. I took it to an alternator shop and the guy charged it using a more methodical approach and gave me a report (verbal) on exactly on it's health. I learned a lot more. Plus, the moment he saw it, he listed out the primary failures. some alternator shops will sell ya the parts to do it yourself, others will not. I go to one shop and the guys are more than happy to sell me brushes and any other parts I need. Usually they have them on hand.
I like to rebuild my own alternators so I know what's inside and how good it is.
Also, don't discount your belt. Make double-sure it's routed correctly. Chances are your brushes are worn out. Before you take it to get it tested, remove the back cover and look at the brushes and contact area. My cover removed with 4 small nuts. If they're worn and the shaft is good, just replace the brushes.
