My favorite of all time and I have a picture of it around here somewhere, is a sign along the road between Livengood and Manley Hot Springs, Alaska- north of Fairbanks. Some character there had an airstrip and apparently a flying service to go with it called Derry-Air. His sign said: If you don't care, fly Derry-Air. We fly when it's colder than a frozen turd in a dead a$$hole."

I still laugh when I think of it.

Dave
I've seen that sign. I about crashed the truck I was laughing so hard.

I read XD's story of his dad and the goose and my first thought was Family Guy with Peter fighting the chicken.

I have been to N.O.
Right after hurricane Katrina, spent 10 days working for FedEx there, stayed at the Hilton downtown on their dime, food and all.
I can go back...there is a warrent for my arrest...seriously, there is.
So you will have to come to MI XD.

There are two, one in northen Indiana, in Whiting, Gary, etc. That area is full of steel mills and petroleum refineries.
The other is in Detroit.
Both are on the water so that ships can come in.
I believe but do not know for 100% that the refinery in Detroit is a Marathon refinery and that is all they produce, Marathon gas, diesel and oil.
The rest comes from Indiana.

Hey hey hey, do not be knocking Gary, I used to go there twice a week, Tuesdays and Fridays. Nice people live in Gary, sure it smells and you cant drink the water or walk your dog...cigs are cheap and Chicago is close.
I have so many Gary stories it would take a whole thread just to post half of them.
My tire changing one is the best story ever though.

no i am not cool enough to do mechanical inspection... i do refractory inspection... its the corrosion and heat resistant lining that is installed on the inside of pretty much every line and vessel in the refineries... its like concrete with stainless steel needles in it that is installed by pneumatic gunning... pretty much concrete shot out of a fire hose with a million needles in it... and i have to crawl every vessel and pipe inspecting it and monitoring tearout and reinstallation of new material... the smallest diameter line i have had to crawl was 24 inches with a one inch lining and a 10 inch chain ladder inside, i think it was 140 feet straight up... took me 4 hours to inspect the thing...
