Default brake caliper spewing fluid

so after goin to a friends property to test the new suspension on some downed trees, which was fantastic, on the way home the brake pedal felt soft like i was losing pressure in the system somewhere... made it to the house and looked in the driveway and sure enough, passenger rear caliper pours fluid whenever you press the pedal... so i guess new calipers or a rebuild kit will be ordered tomorrow... how hard is it to rebuild a brake caliper? would it be a better idea to just order up new calipers? i'm gonna go a ahead and do both rears while i am at it... any info would be super helpful...

First fill up the master cylinder, have some one press on the pedal and see what exactly is leaking, the caliper, the bleed screw or a rubber hose.

so i looked at the rave manual and the brake caliper seems less technical than i thought... so rebuilding it seems like something i can tackle with little issues... so if i buy this http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/STC1279.cfm for both sides, that should be what i need right?

alright update time... so after further investigation it appears that the inner brake pad (closest to the diff) is gone... not really worn down, actually gone... i have no idea how this happened... the little clips are still there but no pad... and the inside of my wheel is covered in a mixture of brake fluid and very fine metal shavings, like silver powder... the rotor is severely grooved and it looks like the brake piston was wearing directly onto the rotor... we had inspected the rear brakes when we put the lift on saturday... i guess while wheeling sunday something happened and now that is where i stand... so i guess new rotors and caliper piston kits are needed...

I had that happen to me on a Oldsmobile that I had had after drving through deep snow, the pad fell off, dont know how, but it did.
So when you went wheeling I bet that is when it happened.

yep... i am gonna try to just put in a new pad and get it driveable until i can order the new parts... the rotor is shot and i am guessing the piston is too... but if i can get it to stop gushing fluid then i will be ok for a couple days...

You could close off that brake line to get you by until the new parts came in.
