Default Broke Key in Lock no spares (Chicago)

I bought my 2003 SE two days ago. Last night, before I got a chance to make a spare, I broke my key in the lock. I think I can get the key out and I can get AAA to open her up, but what's my best (cheapest?) Option for getting a new key.

If anyone has any hyper local advice I live in Chicago.

The joys of car ownership, eh?

I think even ACE can get you a key made... I'm in the same boat as you and also in Chi-town - on my last, wiggly key without working remote. Can't find enough time to get this thing programmed!

as long as you can get it out of the lock you should be fine. Be careful though with AAA opening the car - alarm is armed and you turn it on and off with a key

Are you saying you broke your key in the ignition and then locked yourself out of the truck? Damn that's my kind of bad luck!

Nah, I locked the car with my key and it broke trying to unlock it. It's my only key and it's locked with a key in the door lock.

ACE can make a key without one to copy? Any tips for getting it out of the lock?

A dealer can get you a replacement key without needing to have one to copy, call the nearest one and tell them the VIN, once you go pick it up they will require you to show proof of ownership.

Nope, ACE won't do it without. Dealer is the only option.

Dealer will work as long as the locks are still original to the vehicle. If they’ve been changed at all in it’s lifetime = dealer is going to cut a key it rolled off the line with.

And Howard orloff don’t do returns.

I would think it pretty rare to find a truck without original key tho, but I know squat.

Ok, so what hardware stores / machines can copy keys? I should probably do that before my only key breaks
