Default Bumper trimming, is it worth it?

The subject says it all. How vulnerable is the extra exposure to the under carriage? Some samples:

The bumper provides no protection at all, it is just plastic.
In my opionoin those trks look stupid with the bumper trimmed like that. But thats just me.

When I was out a few weeks ago (before the lift) I popped out the plastic frame around the driver's fog light. No damage occured to the frame piece or light, but figured if they can be sold before destrying them, why not.

I think the only thing that the lower half of the bumperprotects is your fuel milage by streamlining the wind. If you did any type of aggressive four wheeling trimming the bumper should be the firstthing thatyou do. That first pic looks pretty damn good.It looks a littlechopped up from the side in the other two pics; butdefinitly better than the torn off, smashed bumper look. Thanks for the ideas.

That's exactly what I want to avoid. Here's a 3/4 view of the first rig too.

Been toying with the idea myself, since doing it in such fashion allows better clearance without the added weight and rust issue. But I must admit that of all the trimmed bumpers I've seen, the black ones look heck of a lot better than colored ones. My bumper is unpainted, and if I had a body colored bumper, I'd paint it black when doing the trimming.

I also find that having a factory A bar or brush bar makes the trimming look less radical and make the lines a bit more in armony . Somewhat like an ARB bumper. Don't flame, I said somewhat

Yup, I like it! Hell,I like it better than the full stock bumper. I never liked my bumper, it looks like it belongs on a minivan. It doeslook slightly chopped up, but I like the booty-fab, custom look. As mentioned, another accessory bar on there might make it look better.

Well it happened faster than I thought, but I wound up trimming my bumper today. I just wanted to get the fogs off, but that only took 20 minutes. After looking at the tools we had available, my friend and I bought an air compressor and grinder for the job. We've been thinking about getting some air tools for a while and there was a good sale at Kragen. Here are a few pics after the trimming.

Looks good, but it would be nice if you could post some day light pictures from a bit futher away from different angles. That way we'd have a better idea of the general new look of you truck. A side to side before and after pic would be nice too
