Caliper color change

Caliper color change
Got tired of red and it was peeling. I saw a silver Porsche Panamerica the other day with the yellow calipers and thought it would be a nice change. I also repainted the wheels. This time I used my favorite paint called VHT Epoxy sold at Advanced Auto. They have flat, gloss, satin finishes. I used Satin. This is what I use on my steel bumper, ladder, roof top, rear light guards.

The paint from the rims has held up well. I paint them every year because of the calipers. I've got it down to a science. It takes a few hours. The paint dries to a touch in fifteen minutes but I don't drive the vehicle an entire day and let sit overnight. I've used Caliper paint for the wheels and Wheel paint too. So far I've really liked the epoxy paint. The finish is nice and flat. I have Hawk brake pads and the dust is nothing compared to before with stock pads. This helps the paint last. I use Simple Green to clean the dust from time to time off the rim and tire.
I have not ever had any chips... yet. I think that the prep work really helps this area. Even if it did chip from off road riding... rattle can is easy to do again. Almost less painful than having to fix a powdercoated wheel... at least to me.
