CB radio antenna set up

Hello!

I recently joined an offroad club and everyone is equipped with CB radios. I recently got my grubby little hands on one and I am curious what antenna setups everyone is using for discovery's as I am the only disco in a sea of jeeps. My vehicle is stock body wise so no obvious points to mount an antenna what options are there?

Thanks!

So what you need is a 1/2 wavelength antenna at the least (no ground plane required), your local CB or Amateur Radio shop should be able to set you on the correct course, you just need a place to bolt it on, likely fender mount. Ask a few other questions and do not EVER drill holes in your body or fender! For the antenna I'm saying, you may have to have entry holes for power, just make sure you watertight them...

Thanks! unfortunately, my town doesn't have any local radio shops and I believe my particular radio requires a grounded antenna, but a fender mount does sound ideal, luckily I don't have it in me to mutilate my body. Do you know if the rain gutter mounts work at all?

If you have any amateur radio/CB clubs or friends in your area, they will be able to very quickly help you solve your problems with radio equipment, all it really involves is getting the correct antenna length (ideally electrical 1/2 wave for CB is what you are looking for) and supplying enough power for the radio while transmitting. Have a peek at https://www.wearecb.com/the-best-cb-antenna.html for a bit more help. Hopefully someone else with more expertise will chime in...

Rain gutter mounts do work but don't expect optimal performance from them...

Thanks again, I appreciate the advice. I'll look around a bit and keep tabs here

Looking around a bit is the best advice, do not just take the first person's advice as the best...!!!
