Default CDL, LT-230... not all the same...

So... the idea of buying a used transfer case, pulling the 2003 one off, and swapping it in... not so easy. The older case 1, has a mechanical speedo... the 2003 has an electronic one... a number of other sensors are also missing from the older case. I am now stuck with two cases and the vehicle on a hoist at the dealer...

Now I have until morning to figure out a solution from the two cases that will work. Had anyone done a guts swap to get this all working? Gotchas?

OK, it's a moot point.. even if I did everything I could there are sensor ports that just are not present. Guess I find another case by morning.

OK, so the confusion was that the case I got was from a D1 not a D2. He's getting a fresh D2 wreck, 2000 or 2001 in the next 3-5 days and will swap cases so I end up with the right one. Luckily you can still roll a vehicle around without a transfer case (unlike without hubs which was the nightmare a week ago). His prices are also amongst the best I've seen (www.landroversalvage.ca) and good enough that I'll be picking up more maintenance parts (more hubs for one) so that I can deal with future problems. Having things at home, on shelves, in shipping boxes ready to install will mean that if I get a failure while travelling I can just send someone to the house to drop it off with FedEx and get things working again the next day. OK, I'm a bit paranoid, but after this week I don't think it is unjustified.

I can not understand why you are having so many problems.

It almost sounds likesabotage, I hope not.

Hah, no, just a few bits of bad luck combined with doing a whole lot of changes in about 3 weeks...

Not even close doing custom cabinets in the back, steel rear bumper, rear-view camera install, snorkle, and a few other things.. though probably not in August Once the TC is back on just the rear ARB install and brake swap to DBA's and the 2004 hi/lo shifter lever.... there's always more
