Changing Halogens to HID Conversion Kit

All the kits I have seen are simple bulb replacement and plug the factory bulb socket into the ballast. Hardest part is usually finding a good place to mount the ballast. I'm sure Street Wolf can shed a little more light on the subject (pun intended) since he performed the HID upgrade on his D2.

The job is very easy to do. I installed a VVME set of 4300k on the low beams on my 03 Disco.
Once you have the headlamps assembly removed, you just replace the bulb with the HID retrofits and hide the ballast and wiring. Took me about an hour from start to finish. Lighting is much brighter, I aimed the lights slightly lower just in case, but even before that the light would not blind any oncoming cars and not the car that is in front of me.

I have a 35 watt, 6000K system sitting here for me to install, just haven't done it yet.
Let me know what and which system you install and hopw you like them.

Aftermarket HID kits come with nothing more than the HID bulbs, and a ballast for each of them. All that is required for you to do is mount the ballasts securely somewhere (Isn't 'too' hard to do with all the room the Disco has), plug your existing headlight bulb harness into one end of the ballast, then install your HID bulb in place of the halogen, and plug it in as well. Thats all, not hard at all.
I run 4300k HID bulbs in my Disco which is very close to being white. The lower the number the more light output, but once you start to go below 4300k the light color starts to turn yellow, and 6000k is a strong blue color.
Here are some pictures of my 4300k HID's facing my car, and yes. I have driven my car at my Land Rover on more than one occasion to see if the lights would blind me, and I personally am not bothered by them. No one else seems to be either.

It's a 35 kit, and yeah. Only a low beam kit. Really isn't any reason to need high beams as far as light output is concerned.
I'm thinking about doing something along the lines of installing a separate kit of 3000k HID's where the high beam should be on the 03-04 headlights and using them as a sort of off road light/fog light.

I just installed Euro EFX kit on my 2001 SD, not so hard to install, just had to drill two holes to mount ballasts (I used inside corner of well where headlight sits) and connect up the wires... (there are videos on utube as well). At first, I had polarity switched so only came on when high beams were turned on, but when I switched it, all was good!!! They really help in seeing the road at night... I would recommend. great deal. Good Luck.

Street Wolf I'm really liking the 4300k!! The color is exactly what I'm looking for. I've seen too many cars with the "deep blue" headlights (8000k and above), making the owner look like they're trying too hard and the car really cheap. I'm looking locally as well as on the internet for the best price and quality. Where can I get a good deal?
