Has anyone changed a headlight in an 04 Discovery? Is it hard? I am ok with a wrench, but are there instructions that anyone can point me int he direction of?

My Disco has a brushguard with two lights on it that are attached to the grill, does that complicate things?

What type of light would you recommend, can I buy it anywhere?

Or would it be worth $80 to have the LR dealer do it...

Do you mean the entire headlight unit or just the globes (bulbs) inside the headlight?

 

There isn't really anything to it. I would say if you are capable of changing your oil you can do it. I changed mine all at the same time and used the Sylvania Silverstar ULTRA's and I really like those a lot, although I'm sure there are other lamps that are just as good.

As far as the brush guard goes, it just depends on if you can work around it, because the grill and the headlight assemblies have to come out, or I'll say, I couldn't find any other way to do it.

Just do it yourself (cost me a whole $20), its very self explanatory. Just go to any auto parts store and they will look up the proper bulb, and often times will give you assistance if you decide to install them in the parking lot. Go spend that extra $60 you save on dinner.
