Default Clutch issues

HI there,

Having trouble with the clutch in my Disco 2, sometimes I have to switch the engine off, and put is in gear start it with the clutch up and that seems to clear it.

What could this be?

Not sure about this, but in my old MX-5, there was a switch on the clutch pedal that the ECU used to make sure the clutch was pressed before it let the engine start. After 100K miles it wore out and had to be replaced.

Have you checked the fluid in the clutch master cylinder? Do you see any leakage from master or slave cylinders?

Could be adjustment, too. How much free-play do you have at the top of the pedal (amount of movement in pedal before you feel resistance). Should be a little under two inches of play.

If you have no free-play, adjust until you have desired amount.

Also, where does the clutch engage, when releasing pedal from floor? Should start grabbing at about the two inch mark from the floor

Lots of standards have idiot switch the clutch pedal, that requires it to be depressed to start the vehicle. Check the Rave

Thank you so much... but would 'making the vehicle jolt forward',
by starting it in gear/with clutch engaged, fix a low fluids/worn clutch issue.

Feels more like SYNCRO, something in the way, that gets jolted back into position, for the rest of the journey
