Which codes should we start with?

Default Which codes should we start with?

I know we need a new radiator and will be replacing it next week with a new one. I do think we are going to flush the system and go green this time instead of dexcool. Our Disco2 was not happy when it sat for 2 weeks due to inclement weather and a developed a cracked throttle hose. Now I am getting all kinds of codes on the obd device and am not sure where to start. I know some codes come in multiples. Anyone have a tip on where to start? Also, the second to last spark plug when looking at the engine on the right hand side looks like there may be oil coming from it, or somewhere near it. Based on what the others look like, I bet that is not supposed to happen.

I would start with the misfire...#7 cylinder. Drivers side, closest to the firewall. Check wire/plug. When were plugs/wires changed last? I had a misfire that showed up due to a bad wire. If you have SAI getting to cylinder 7 is a little of a pain. Do your codes come back immediately after clearing them?


The oil is probably coming from the valve cover. You can tighten the 2 outboard bolts (12pt socket) on each valve cover. Most try to remember to do this every oil change. But check the plug in the cylinder you mentioned and make sure it's tight (for a spark plug...)


You also may want to just post in one section so the info is consolidated making it easier for everyone!

Not that I disagree with floundering, but I would clear all the codes on the OBD and then drive around for a few days and see which ones reappear then address the urgent ones starting with the red codes. Some of these codes may just be old and haven't been cleared but have been dealt with. What you don't want to do is chase your tail and throw dosh at things that have already been sorted. Good luck.

PS. Use a process of elimination. If the code bounces back fix it and then clear all the codes and run the truck again and retake the codes as some look duplicates etc. That way you won't chase ghosts.

So if it were me. P0300 and P0307 more than likely are the same thing. And it should be one of the three options.
-Bad Plug on Cylinder 7, (Drivers Side Closest to Firewall on American Version)
-Bad Wire to the Plug on Cylinder 7
-Bad Coil Block that supplies Cylinder 7

P1174 and P0103 should be related also. More it is tellling you the metered air going to block is not what is should be. The Cause based on your codes, seems to point to the MAF being bad. However, those codes can also mean two much air, which could mean a minor vacuum leak, or poor fuel supply.

Thanks guys for giving me a starting point. I am going to clear all codes today. We have all new wires/spark plugs orders along w a new MAF and radiator. I could not tell you the last time the sparkplug wires had been changed as the previous owner hadn't a clue other than how to put gas in it. Floundering, I see what you mean about #7 - those wires are in a tight spot. I do know we had our LR tech clear all codes in Nov 2013 when he pressurized the coolant system. I will post a follow-up once we get some work done on it!

Useful web tool jfall, well done. Many thanks saved now into my LR file.

I have a list of codes but there are hundreds and I printed it out in hardcopy and put it somewhere.........errrr.......... 'safe'........errrr...........and now I can't find it.
