Default Coil Pack Replacement Questions

I have disassembled and am trying to reassemble my coil packs and plug wires.

For the coil pack bracket, Rave and the internet seems to think there are 4 bolts. When I put the bracket back in, it seems like the lower 2 slide on to long studs. Is this the correct thing or do I need to move the bracket lower?

Thanks.

Yes, the lower holes go onto those studs. You won't be able to do anything with the bracket until you get the upper intake back in place though, because there are more studs on that.

Are studs OE there? All three 03-04 engines I've pulled have had bolts.

Someone must have put studs in the holes at some point - great idea! I just replaced my coil packs and was thinking about installing studs there to make it easier - next time...

With a magnetic nut driver I never had a problem using bolts. The studs could certainly help with alignment though.

Yeah, I find it easier to start the bottom bolts and leave them loose before putting the upper intake on. I always seem to struggle with the top bolts and nuts for the SAI brackets once the intake is on - big hands, tight space, and OCD for having all the hardware in place...

Thanks all!

That makes sense @mollusc I was trying to get the bracket mounted for a while and it wasn't making sense at all, so I will try and put the intake manifold on first and give that a go.

Rave is a bit confusing on this.

I used M6 hex cup grub screws as studs and M6 nyloc nuts to mount my coil packs.
I can’t remember if I used 30mm or 35mm length though.

I have another question.
So for reassembly does this seem correct?
1. Hook up all plugs and wires but leave coil bracket loose
2. Install upper intake manifold
3. Install upper coil pack bracket bolts.
4. install lower nuts on studs.

I don't think there were any nuts on the studs when I took it off, just the two upper bolts. I will have to find some nuts so it doesn't bounce around.

I had forgotten that the truck has 4 bolts from the factory. I remember thinking that lower studs would be a good idea the last time I did a set of coil packs.
You do need to tighten all four bolts though. People seem to have reported problems if the coils aren't solidly grounded. Make sure that the braided strap(s) from the back of the engine is/are attached to the firewall as well.
