All right, so if I get this right......D2 is Dexcool, no matter if the rad is plastic, aluminum or brass. Don't want to over analyse this, but how is the D2 different to the D1 if both have aluminum engines and brass rads ????

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to dump Dexcool. I just wanna be sure to run the best coolant for my set-up.

LR just changed to Dexcool in all of their engines in 2K. Some models had it before then, but everything after that had it. Not an engineering thing, they just wanted to put extended life fluids in. Like synthetic in the diffs.

And extended life coolant is like using Mobil-1, good but how many people do you know who leave the mobil-1 in for the full 15,000mi service life? few, because there are other concerns other than just oil breakdown. If you run DexCool for the full 'advertized' service life you're likely to see problems. Changing your coolant every 2 years minimum will help ensure your inhibitor levels stay reasonable and that sludge buildup is minimized.

All right!!! done deal. Brass rad with Dexcool and flush every 2 years. Sounds reasonable enough.

I still urge you to look at PG based coolants, they're non-toxic and less environmentally damaging.

Robson Racing caries all the Amsoil products. For engine oil I stick with Mobil one but mostly because of cost, I'm running the Amsoil synthetics in the other systems.

Oh, when you flush finding the drain bolts on the block is tricky, the right one is inside the engine mount bracket and really hard to get to. Make sure when you flush you use a considerable amount of hot water you really want to get everything out. You can probably mix less than the 70/30 I'm using, but I'm looking at driving up north this winter so -50C protection was a consideration.
