crankshaft position sensor, can't reach???

Ok so what am I doing wrong. I found this post which was perfect https://landroverforums.com/forum/sh...+sensor&page=2

Except I cant reach the darn thing. After almost breaking my my arm I was able to take the cover off and I could probably do the same for the two 8mm bolts holding the sensor. But there is no way my arm will reach the connector. The exhaust is too close to the frame for me to get my arm (i have small arms) all the way up to unplug the sensor. I really hate to remove the exhaust bolts, even then I'm not sure it would move enough without removing both sides. BTW I am working from the bottom with the wheel removed.

someone posted about having some long needle nose shaped pliers as being the golden egg...

Thanks, looks like I will probably have to tow it to a dealer. I was able to remove the old one. Now there is no way to reach the connector to plug the new one in. I have zero leverage to hold the top connector in place. Why didnt LR make the harness 6 inches longer....

I'm very impressed with you guys that got it installed under 60 minutes. I have been battling it for over 5 hours.

If I remember correctly, when I replaced my engine (which came with the CSS already installed), I made the electrical connection from above. I do not remember if that was done before or after the manifold was installed :(

I just found the video that was posted of the install, and I noticed the exhaust was disconnected from the manifold. I guess I will try see if I can remove the bolts tomorrow morning before I give up. Strange the video looks like the exhaust is hanging a good 3-4 inches below the manifold, I didnt think there was that much room. But it is late and I already started drinking another beer.

Loosen the 2 bolts at the other end of the Y pipe as well.
It is very easy to replace the crank position sensor once the engine is out :D
