Default Crazy Gass issue

Ok this is going to sound crazy but my 03 disco with 59,500 miles has been getting in city and highway mix driving about 12.7 MPG for as long as I have had it the best I ever got was 17 MPG all highway! Ok I gassed up the other day and put in like 6 or 7 gal did the math and 19.6??? I just figured I did some bad math well I am at 248 miles with half a tank right now with mix driving 50/50 highway and city! My first thought was my gass gage is bad so I parked on an incline driver side up at a 25 deg pitch and the gage moved??? What is going out something is must be wrong the only new thing I did was my 60000 service all Royal Purple I haven’t changed the trans fluid yet! What do you guys think and have you ever heard of this befor?

That sounds about right, whenever you change to full synthetic your MPG will improve.
You will have to fill the tank and rest the trip OD each time and take a average of the next three tanks of gas. And make sure that you are using premium, since it is required and all.
Full synthetics and premium gas will net you your best MPG.

Figure out your mileage after a full tank, since the top part of the gauge can be giving weird readings. Once at full, you can almost put in 1 to 2 gallons. So if you figure out your mileage when the tank is at 3/4, you get misreading.

I used to have that outlookl too, but now I look at it like this.
I'm walking along and step in a big pile of dog crap, "well, at least it was'nt my good shoes."
You need to see the up side of life. You are getting GREAT MPG, that is a good thing, by getting better MPG you are saving money for future repairs.

Unless you have a stock (street tires) Disco I don't think the
Syn oil will help that much,, and then it still sounds high.

If the next few tanks stay with better mileage then celebrate.
I hope your mileage stay higher.
