Make sure that they didnt just turn the master power switch to the cruise control off.
I had my truck aligned after I bought it, took off on a trip the next day and no cruise for the first 150 miles, (the whole way there), on the way back...turned the power back on...cruise control...DOH!!
I have no idea why they turned the cruise off, but they did.
Check the simple things first.

Thanks for the reply. Are you talking about some switch other than the one on the dash? I think I hit all the simple things right off...fuse, etc..but if there's something else to check I'd love to know.

No, I mean the switch on the dash.
They had turned mine off, so the switch was not lit, I never turn it off so I didnt look at it.
If that is not it then it is probably a vacuum leak, very common.
Find all the cruise control vacuum lines and check for cracks, repair/replace as needed.
Start with the vacuum line that goes from the back of the brake light switch, follow it under the hood and to every where it goes.
