I had my truck aligned after I bought it, took off on a trip the next day and no cruise for the first 150 miles, (the whole way there), on the way back...turned the power back on...cruise control...DOH!!
I have no idea why they turned the cruise off, but they did.
Check the simple things first.

No, I mean the switch on the dash.
They had turned mine off, so the switch was not lit, I never turn it off so I didnt look at it.
If that is not it then it is probably a vacuum leak, very common.
Find all the cruise control vacuum lines and check for cracks, repair/replace as needed.
Start with the vacuum line that goes from the back of the brake light switch, follow it under the hood and to every where it goes.
