Default D2 Brake Recommendation

Happy Sunday All -

I noticed yesterday it was time to replace my brakes and rotors, I am looking for some recommendations for parts from local stores and any tips I should be aware while replacing them.

I read here Akebono pads are good option, luckily Advance Auto Parts has them locally so I don't have to wait. However, I am wondering about the rotors, what do you guys suggest? Please note, I need to change them this week, so it has to be from my local parts shops.

Thank you all.

F R Drilled Rotors for Land Rover Discovery Series II | eBay

These are the ones I put on my truck last August with Akebono ceramic pads. Stopping power improved. I have been happy with both. Stopping is smooth and quick.

A lot of people just use EBC solid rotors and have good results. Atlantic British has those.

I just did EBC solid rotors and Akebono pads, awesome braking, almost zero dust, zero brake squeal and no more intermittent amigos. (Need to change my signature )by far my favorite thing I have done to my disco so far. A highly recommend combo.

Any reason to go with solid rotors over vented? At Napa a few weeks ago they mentioned they had both and I've been meaning to ask if there's a difference, beside the obvious ones vented ones solid?

Vented = cool down faster = better stopping power

Probably negligible difference on our trucks though.

Vented are a waist of money. These trucks are not race cars, and they can eat up pads. You might notice better stopping If you were trying to go 100mph to 35mph in 120 ft on a race track. That's just my 4 cents.

Mo- I think you're mistaking vented for slotted. Vented rotors are rotors that have an area between both surfaces, slotted(or grooved) is when there's a design or depression cut into the face of the rotor itself.
