Default D2 Rust - Common Problem Areas

Now that I've looked a couple of Michigan vehicles I really need to know the hidden places and trouble areas for rust on D2's. I should probably be looking for a southern vehicle, but there are a couple here in Michigan that have seen limited winter use, or so I am told by their owners

I did a search and found some info on the rear frame rails, but what are the other spots do I need to look for?

thanks in advance!

As far as I know it mostly the frame. The rear frame rails as you found. Behind the cats up front are the two spots I know but I would check the whole thing. I got mine from down south and had almost zero rust when I got it, but after two New England winters I already have to hit it with some corroseal.

Next to the cats on the frame rails, sills, wheel arches, anywhere there is metal

I've just noticed rust on the back door's foot plate. The portion you step on as you enter. Seems to be under the rubber molding.
Surprised me to see it as the rest of the rig is very clean (springs excluded which are crusty).

Also check under the carpet on the passenger and drivers side footwells and under the carpet in the cargo area in the back around the fuel pump access hatch.

Thanks everyone. I've put these on my "D2 Inspection Sheet". The search continues.
