Oops, I obviously picked the wrong name... While I've never taken my own cars to a brake shop, I was thinking maybe a place that specialized in brakes might stumble upon the problem quickly in a free inspection. I realize they may come up with all sorts of "Needed" repairs, but if they gave you the one idea that was not yet thought of, it may save you a bunch of time, and if it were free, that's better; Then proceed to do the repairs yourself. 'Midas' was pulled out of the air since it's the only name I could think of.

Forums can be brutal. Without the face-to-face contact it's too easy to lose civility.

Seems that any recommendation that involves a trip to a service chain or a dealership will get you a sharp rebuke around here. Glad to see you took it in stride.

It's all good, I kinda know that from past experience on forums. I didn't take it wrong, and they are right. I also know that sometimes, if a person does not have enough experience with something, that maybe a second in-person audio/visual opinion might be helpful.
