Default Diff Locked HELP!

I have been a longtime lurker on here and have always gotten the help I need. Thank you! Now for the kicker. I was driving the girlfriends 2000 Discovery 2 today on the freeway and everytime I stepped on the brake the Diff Light would come on. When I got stuck in LA traffic I put the gear into park and wala shifter is locked in park. Any suggestions? I checked the #25 fuse as reccomended and it is good, I recently had a trailer plug wired into the system to tow a small trailer, could that be the problem?

Do the brake lights work?
Hows that traffic treating you right now?
Sounds like either the brake light switch went out or the trailer wiring shorted out the shift inter lock.
Was the trucks wiring cut to install the trailer harness or was it a plug-n-play harness?

Every Discovery should have a spare brake light switch in the tool kit. I found this out the hard way when I could not get it out of park in a store parking lot. I had some wire with me so I jumped the solinoid from the fuse box.

oh i've been meaning to post this ever since I did my CDL conversion. If you are ever unable to shift out of park all you have to do is pop the shifter cover plate off and push in that little retainer on the side of the shift lever.

Had to get the CHP to hold traffic while the tow truck installed a dolly under rear tires to tow. Well the brake lights DID not work. Blown 15A fuse when it calls for 25A THAT SOLVED it. Thanks guys. Lesson learned NT pop up shifter cover and push the pin in LOL. and as far as the brake switch im going to get that in the tool box just incase. Thanks guys
