Default Different shocks because of ACE?

Hey guys, just wondering if there is a difference in shocks on vehicles with ACE? I ask, because i've seen some shocks listed as "for vehicles w/out ACE", etc.

If so, I'm assuming only the rear shocks would be different? And what's the difference, longer? Shorter?

Thanks.

Default Good question

If I remember correctly it is length and it not much so standard shocks would just limit travel.

Since you are in the market as I was 2 yrs ago I will pass on a very good recommendation I received from some people on this forum.

Do the springs with the shocks.

Rovertym's spring and shock kit (Rovertym custom springs -Old man Emu shocks) is an excellent product. Will give you a little lift if you are looking for it without requiring brake hose extension.

Yeah, i've gotten nothing but uncertainty so far. Atlantic British says "yes you need different shocks to fit ACE system" and then when asked why or what the difference was they said "Not sure what exaclty is different but all of the manufactures have listings without ace so there must be a solid reason, either fitment or ride quality".

I've also heard from another parts source that said the shocks are the same confidently, but then went on to say, well, we've put the regular shocks on many ACE fitted vehicles with no problems.

I was just curious if anyone actually knew the real scoop, since there seems to be uncertainty. I couldn't tell of any difference between my original shocks and the standard sized I already put on (its my wifes ride and she didn't want a lift!) And i've taken the advice of doing the springs as well, thanks!

Default Rovertym knows

You can call the guys at Rovertym. I had the same deal with lack of info and the Rovertym gents had a specific technical answer; I believe they gave me a number that was the difference in length in inches.

Very knowledgeable and very helpful.

My guess would be that the shocks are valved different to allow the ACE to function more efficiently. Fit may be identical, no physical difference.
