Default DII Stereo in a DI?

Does anyone know if the Stock Stereo from a 2001 DII will work in a 1996 DI? From the pic I have, the harness plugins look to be the same. Anyone know if that DII Head Unit will operate a DI CD Changer. I'm assuming both units are Alpines?

I thought rover head units were H&K or is that just the speakers?

H&K makes guns, not speakers. The D2 uses Harman-Kardan speakers. Only thing that I can see different between the D2 stereo in the picture and the D1 factory radio is the antenna connection. The D1 uses 2 European style antenna connections.

There was only one stereo for the DI, it is a Pioneer with a Pioneer CD changer.
The DII has 3 stereo options.
The G4 trucks use fleet audio, cheap rugged stereo like they use in semi's.
Then there is the Alpine unit.
Then the Harmon Kardan unit.

i think the speakers/sound in my D2 is pretty weak.

i like the tweeters, but the lows crush the speakers, causing distortion.

and i'm not bumping heavy bass.

The D2 stereo's were "either"

Alpine (as pictured above)
Philips
or Becker Traffic pro (sat nav unit)

No Harmon Kardon head units.

And theres no AMP in the D2 headunits, its all done by the power amp under the seat, so it won't work in a D1, and it DEF will not work a D1 CD changer.
