Disco 2 td5 Coolant mixed with oil blew hose to engine
Hello again,
My First post is lost, so I will try to remember what was the questions about my beloved Elizabeth.
I Love my new old car, always wanted one, I don't have money, bought one from a friend, still paying, no rust, no leaks(3 days ago), some minor paint job to do.
Was driving 3 days ago at the freeway and felt something on the pedal(like a tremble), and a distinctive smell. After 2 kms I arrived at my work and there she is since then. After 4 hours I went to check on her and saw something leaking on the ground, open the bonnet and voila, the main hose that goes from radiator to the engine exploded dispensing a black to gray milkshake like foam. I heard that's better than if was pink to red color foam, like gearbox fluid.
I know its gonna take some time and money(time I have now), since I am still paying the car, i need to finish paying first then start buying parts.(found some with a help from you guys).
So what can I do while I wait?
1. Remove the bulbar(easy access, and it can use a respray)
2. Remove Airlifter, Hoses and connectors?
3. Remove the radiator(can I clean it? do I have to buy another one?)
4. Remove the head of the engine? verify if I need to change the gaskets ORRRR I wait and test the pressure first to try to find from where is leaking?
4.1. If Remove head, how to I clean and remove the old gasket?
5. Is there a way to clean the engine part where the coolant goes? I mean, probably is full of coolant mixed with oil)
6. I don't have the tools to remove the entire engine from the car. Do I need to do it for any reason?
7. What else can I do while waiting to have money? Anything else I should check? And feel free to add anything you think is necessary or MUST be done.
PS. 2 weeks ago I bought a UHF radio and a 23inch Tri-row CREE Flood Spot LED Light Bar to fit to her... Guess this will wait now...
Thanks again guys and girls.
And I hove this one stays here a little bit longer.
