Disco I or Disco II?

The good news is that there are write ups for all these things, and none are all that difficult or expensive.

+1 to pinky. But you also said on one the heat didn't work. That's a pretty basic system... Replacing a heater core is a very big deal. If it is just the blower (30 minute fix) I'd assume they would say the climate controls don't work or something.
Heater not working makes me worry that it had a water leak (head gasket maybe) and they used fix it in a can.

This one was just posted and is pretty close to me. Price looks good but it is a R title.

Land Rover Discovery
Land Rover Discovery
R title because it was in a flood, he bought it with the R title. 101k on the body, it had a used motor put in with 63k on it said he has all the paperwork on the motor swap. Says there is a crack in the fender but has a new one that goes with it. Says everything in it works.
It's "throwing up some flags" but if everything works and I can buy it for less than $2000.......hmmm.

I'm going to check it out now, the guy said he'd meet me halfway.
The only paperwork he has is from a previous owner having a new/used motor put in.
I asked about his ad saying "it also has a brand new water pump, thermostat, and the fan clutch." He said he put those on because the temp needle would start to rise going up a long hill at highway speeds. Says his uncles buddy is a land rover tech and he told him one of those things was causing that. He says that it never overheated and since changing the water pump, thermostat and clutch fan the needle does not rise going uphill anymore.
I'll make sure I leave it idle for a while before and after I drive it and sniff around under the hood and the exhaust.
Leaving now, I'll report back when I get home.

I'm back. It was nice, ran good and everything worked.
The rear wiper arm was missing, the middle head rest was missing, the cup holder did not work right. I could pull it out but came off track. The little cover plate for the change drawer was off, he had it in the glove box but I think the clips were broken and the headliner was sagging here and there.
The outside, front of the fender was dinged up and had a slice in it plus the parking light was loose. He has a matching fender and parking light that goes with it. The plastic on the front bumper was cracked a few places.
The motor, it ran and smelled good. There was a whining noise it sounded like a tight belt. I popped the hood after driving and that's where the noise seems to be coming from.
He showed me the paperwork from the "new" engine. It was done by a shop when the truck had a little over 90k and the motor put in had 60,xxx. The total was $37xx and came with a 6 month/6,000 mile warranty. The truck now has 101,6xx.

Do all D2's have SLS?
While looking at the frame I noticed there were no air bags in the rear coils.
Also there were no dummy lights on when running so I turned the key to the 2nd click just to make sure they were all working, they were. I noticed a light in the bottom row (a little to the left) that showed the truck with arrows pointing to the left and right in an arc.
Would that be the automatic corner leveling system thingy???
If so doesn't it need air bags to work??
Forgot to add that when driving it the SRS (airbags?) light came on. The guy said the light comes on and goes off while driving since he got it.
