Disco II driveshaft rebuild

Let me get this straight...

1.Disco II front drive shafts are bad because they did not come with greasable u-joints. If those stock u-joints fail they will ruin my tranny costing me thousands of dollars?

2. If I drop the front drive shaft and replace the u-joints with greasable ones I'm okay?...or do I need to replace the hole drive shaft?

3. Anybody got a link to a site that offers the greasable u-joints?

You are correct, but have you ever rebuilt a double cardon drive shaft, if not, might want to find a shop that will for around $200.
Parts numbers,
Percision 344 u-joint and a Percision 617 centering ball kit.

For the parts go to rockauto.com.

Can't thank you guys enough for all the help...I will start getting the parts and calling shops today--CG

most driveline shops will carry the parts. Call and get a quote for the re-build and balance. By the time you pay shipping for supplying your own parts, it will be the same as the mark up from the shop.

Make sure that they are greased at every oil change, if you go to Jiffy Lube or the like you will have to make sure that you tell them to grease it.

In case you didn't notice, that's an enormous hole in the side of my transmission, LOL! I bought it cheap because of this.
