Unhappy Disco II overheat

2002 Disco II overheated for the first time today. I was told to replace the thermostat-original in-line. Another mechanic thinks it's a freeze plug-have to pull engine to get to it.

Any direction you may give woyld be greatly appreciated.

First did you look under your hood before the mechanics? What's you're coolant level? any visible leaks on the ground?, to rule out some simple stuff first. There is a large handful of things that can cause these trucks to overheat. I've seen a lot of different threads on here about overheating but I have never heard of pulling the engine as the first step......

I have to agree there.

Time to do a bit of investigation on your own first. Livingintheskies gave you a good list.

And don't drive it until you figure out what is going on. You don't want to make it worse.

DO NOT DRIVE.... also go to another mechanic... puling the engine is the ABSOLUTE last thing you do.

like others have said. Check the level in your expansion tank. look for leaks.. check the clamps holding on the hoses..check the hoses.... do all of this before you order anything. keep us posted many folks here can help you. where are you located is there an indie LR mechanic in the area?

Your mechanic has found someones deep pocket.
Quit driving it and send me your number so I can walk you thru what to check and do before you toast that engine.

I'll agree with everyone else....new mechanic for sure and definitely do not drive, should have been the first thing in my initial answer. Keep us posted before spending any money.

I will be heading out of town, possibly tomorrow, for 7 to 10 days, so get back to me today.

Default overheating also

I'm having the same trouble. I have no leaks, but when I open my reservoir it fills up with fluid when the engine is hot. I haven't checked cold. Also, it heats up and the light comes on, then it cools down and goes off... really quirky
