I've got an 02 with 103k miles on it and i've had the feedback since i got it a few months ago. Mine is a "skip"/feedback when I turn left and it hits around 45 degrees. It's nice to hear i'm not alone. I'm going to plan on clearing out the old ps fluid. I'll let you know about that.
Finally found the issue here...
Sway Arm Bushings on the ace package are bad. Here's how I found it...
You have to jack up the front of the vehicle and take the load off the suspension. Once you take the load off the suspension, you can grab the sway bar and it will move around in the bushings under the two clamps.
I ordered replacement bushings, but they come un-split, since it would be nearly impossible to install them without splitting them, I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to split them. In fact, the tech support guy at Atlantic British was surprised that they didn't come split.
I've heard that the spilt should face the back of the vehicle on the right side and should face the front of the vehicle on the left side.
I'm certain this is my problem, and with the suspension loaded it is impossible to feel the play.
Has anyone replaced these bushings? Any advice? Which way did you align the splits?

The image on the RAVE CD shows the bushings as split, with the splits both facing the front of the vehicle. Installed them on Friday and it eliminated the clunck completely. It also made a noticeable difference in handling crispness.
I cant let this thread die. I want this fixed!
I went under the truck with a rubber hammer and beat around, found nothing in the stearing, other than the front springs resonating when being hit, but thats not the sound I hear when it knocks anyway..
We have to figure this out!!
I tightened the shock tower nuts, well one of them, it seemed pretty easy to tighten, I mean it wasn't easy but it didnt feel tight either, I was afraid I might strip the bolts so I stopped

So, I noticed that the Discovery II has CV joints in it now like a car does.
Could the CV joints be sticking or going bad?
If you go really slow - like 1 MPH and try this - is the clunk the same as if you are going
5 to 10 MPH?

Also -
I would check the steering box bolts. Make sure they are up to torque specs.
If the steering box is loose, it will clunk.
check the large nut which holds the Pittman arm on too.
