Shouldn't you be the one calling Disco Mike? After all, he offers his extensive advice (from years of first-hand experience) here for free. It really should be your responsibility to call him. He shouldn't have to pay for long distance telephone calls to offer free advice.

Disco Mike: Please help!

I just had my serpentine belt replaced last week at my local (and previously trusted mechanic), along with a few plugs that were replaced and brakes the total was $2880. Literally 4 days after i picked it up i had loss of power and my overheat gauge went up, battery light came on, and I immediately started leaking radiator fluid. I stopped the truck and had it towed. Now my mechanic is telling me that my water pump seized and that caused the belt to come off, cracking my fan belt and ruining my radiator and he wants another $1800 to fix it. I feel like i may be getting screwed here as it was just in the shop for the serpentine belt and when i popped the hood it was off. Can you give me any advice on this or any rebuttals to bring to him when i go pick it up tomorrow?

$2880???????????????????
serp belt takes all of 4 minutes to replace and costs joe public $31 for the belt...sounds like they didn;t put the belt round the water pump, sounds very suspect to me.
what did they do to the brakes????replace everything???. It makes me so sad people can charge fellow people such a high price for nothing!...brake pads take about 15 mins per wheel...max!
plugs about 5 mins each MAX...let me be your new tech....waaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper...lol
sorry to hear what happened

well... a seized up water pump should be pretty obvious. Go look at it and give it a twist. (if he's already taken it off.... make sure you know what a rover v8 pump looks like).

Seems like no one here ever has any real advice to give to someone in need, just one smart *** post after another. The only one who knows anything is Disco Mike, the rest of you have no lives so all you can do is sit on your *** and post useless crap that pertains to nothing. This will be my last before I unsubscribe from LRF.
