Default Disco prices...

Are WAY down. I was just looking around today (I'm a car nut as we all are) while searching for a driver's side window regulator and noticed that '04's are a steal now. I bought mine a year ago today for 21K including the 3 year LR extended warranty and I thought I stole the thing. Now I'm seeing 04's around here (Baltimore/DC area) for 13-14k w/ 50k on the clock. I'm guessing the economy, gas prices and people buying houses they can't afford may be partly to blame.

I think that gas prices are a HUGE factor.

I am noticing the same trend here. Gas is killer and that is one big thing for buyers right now. But hey, if your in the market for a nice disco then you're in luck!

It'a a great time to get a Disco if you want one for fun. One positive effect of a bad economy.

Yep, it's the gas. Someday SUV's might just be a historical footnote. I bought a Jetta diesel to counterbalance the Rover.

Thats funny I have a Bora diesel(Jetta Diesel) also, and drive it daily and save my Disco for off road.

Speaking of all this, the main story on MSN today was this right here:

http://editorial.autos.msn.com/artic...;topart=luxury

It just talks about cars and trucks that are thirsty for gas and how they might be a thing of the past. One thing to think about is the new standard that states all car companies must have an average of 35 MPG in their fleet of cars by 2020. Just think about it, in 2020 you are at a land rover dealer and you look at an LR5 (hehe) and it says it can get 35 MPG. WOW. Anyways, like you guys said SUV's might be a thing of the past, but I sure hope not! I am a tall person and SUV's just fit me! And what would we do without off roading? Gah I hope LR or someone can think of a way to save the SUV.

Diesels are the only way to save the SUV.
They will beable to get less than 35mpg, but they will have to pay a fine, which they will pass onto the buyer.

Calm down guys, the secret right now is to hurry up paying your Rovers, and then maintain the heck out of it, to assure you'll have yours for a long long time to come.

I'm fortunate enough to have my Rover paid for, and in the last year everything except for the brakes sometime this year( head gaskets, new radiator,O2 sensors, transmission filter and all fluids renewed with full synthetics everywhere)have been done.

Taking in consideration that I drive a 'luxury' s.u.v, that would cost some $700.00 monthly payment if new not counting higher insurance costs, and that I spend about $200.00 a month for approx. 50 gallons of gas on a normal month, the price of gas would have to go up to $12.00 a gallon for me to be spending approx. the same money on a monthly payment alone if that same truck was new. Those good in math have already noticed that I'm a $100.00 short of $700.00, and that's because I put it asideto have $1200.00 yearly on Disco repairs if need be. If not, I'm getting richer.

So, althoughwe allknow that gas prices will keep going up, I doubt that we will ever see the day that the prices will even double none the less triple !!! So instead of being afraid that s.u.v's will ever be a thing of the past, just maintain yours to assure that it and you will have a long long relationship. So just hurry up paying it, relax, and enjoy!!!
