Default Discovery II Stock with 265/75r16's and black plasti-dipping

Hey guys just thought I would share a weekend project I did, I had the stock tires with 18" wheels and found a KILLER deal on craigslist for 5 tires+wheels 265/75r16's in great shape for $200...... $200!!!

Here are some pictures of the plasti-dip process and before/after shots (they aren't great iPhone camera sucks)

Stock 18" tires/wheels

Stock 18" tires/wheels

265/75/16's with 16" wheels

Masked it off

Applied 7 coats in total

This is after the 4th coat

rear end doesn't usually sag, its just on an incline with old tires in the back

It slightly rubs on the front bumper when turned in a certain position, planning on trimming it<br/>

That IS a screamin deal on those wheels and tires. I would have left them silver,...but each to their own.

No worries, I know I am a bit immature and gravitate towards the "aggressive" style haha. Can't help myself

I actually would have just kept the 18's in silver and added some different tires.

Couple things with that:

1. This is mainly used for camping, desert, offroading. I need as much rubber as possible

2. The deal for $200 included the 16" rims

3. If you want to buy my old ones, I am selling

Default Could we meet Mid day Tuesday instead?

I would have done the same thing in a heartbeat,.......(but without the black dip),......in fact, I did,...I decided to sell my 99 D2 and before I did,....I swapped the 16" wheels with M/S tires for the 18's on my 2003 with street tires. So far haven't noticed a big difference in handling,....but I HAVE noticed slightly improved ride with the same 38 PSI,....and I can go do a bit of off roading with friends now. Yeah, I did like the look of the 18's,....but this swap worked well for me,

My bigger concern with plasty dipping anything is that it is not a durable finish,.....and on wheels, especially if off roading,.....I want a durable finish that wont be showing (in your case) silver chips and scratches through the black. Hope it works out well for you.
