Default Discovery Radio Problem

I just purchased a 2004 Discovery S.

One of the small issues with the car is that the volume **** on the (factory original) radio does not function correctly. If I attempt to turn the volume up, it only goes as far as level 3 (very faint), and while doing so the numbers on the LCD display flash in a sort of crazy way.

When I adjust the volume with the steering wheel control, the volume goes up and down as normal. So the issue seems to just be with the **** on the radio.

Does anyone have any ideas about a possible solution? Is there a way to factory reset the radio unit, that might resolve the issue? Any insight would be great.

Thanks!

You could replace your radio. Or if you just want the factory radio you can replace the potentiometer.
