Discovery2 - Need help with sudden battery drain
#11
Thank you all for the input. I have and will go again and get the battery and alternator checked just to be sure but could it still be a battery/alternator problem alone if the car charges fine and doesn’t seem to stop charging as long as the ac is not on?
I noticed today that there is a slight consistent noise coming from the belt especially when it starts up. is it possible that the AC compressor pulley is sticking and once engaged puts enough resistance on the belt to not charge the car? Could be way off but just trying to connect the dots.
Side thought: the car had an aftermarket stereo when I bough it and there was all sorts of alternator whine and static so I replaced it with a new one and all of that has gone away but noticed today that for a few seconds the whine came back. Is there some sort of common ground between the stereo and ac that could have a bad connection or something causing this and possibly being triggered by something with the ac controls etc
