Great job figuring out how to fit a small compressor and tank!

I have been carrying the Slime 40026 2X Heavy Duty Direct Drive Tire Inflator but recently found that it fits tightly in the mounting bracket so I made some modifications and now its my onboard air.

The 1 gallon tank from Ebay got a 100/70psi pressure switch and is filled through the flexible leader hose with integrated check valve. Tank and compressor (with 4 rubber isolators) were mounted on an aluminum base plate. The whole thing fits nicely into the SLS compressor bay (I will use a longer hose to get the air intake above the worst case waterline):

Finally I got it installed today.

How did you connect the breather hose to the intake of the compressor? Also what Air filter did you use? I love the way it looks!

I removed that fragile air filter, which has a male thread. I drilled the hole in the cover up to get an NPT angled barb (3/8) adapter in. I added an NPT nut and a gasket from inside. It is 1/8 NPT, I believe.

Installed about 11 ft of 3/8 hose along the frame going up to the DS tail light. The cable was routed over the transmission to the PS frame and then along the frame to a fuse box inside the jack stand cubby.

Push connectors, brass adapters and 3/8 air line are from local hose shop.
Electrical connectors, cable, nuts and bolts local HW store or ebay.

Will it survive wading or even rain? Turn off of course. I imagine water would get into the motor assemble and cause some damage when turned on later.

It should be watertight. I disassembled the unit completely and sealed everything with black silicone. Cables are fed through watertight cable glands.

Has anyone here considered putting a belt driven air compressor where the ACE pump normally sits?

It's been a project I've been thinking about just to lazy to start it.

What would be the advantage of a belt-driven versus this direct-drive one? This project is placed in the old ACE bracket.

Did your modifications include putting the compressor inside some kind of awesome custom built housing? I can't seem to find anything that looks close to this picture.

Edit: just noticed this is the case that the system comes in. Looks like you added or moved the switches and added some lights. Very cool!
