DIY Gauge Pod

DIY Gauge Pod
Just wanted to share with you guys my gauge pod build. I posted this in another thread but thought I should start a new thread for ease of searching. I didn't like the look or fit of the gauge pod I purchased from Summit so I fiberglassed my own. Pretty easy to do and definitely fits better. By the way, I set the low PSI warning of the gauge at 12.
To make the pod, I removed the A-pillar and covered it with Saran wrap so I could remove the pod after the resin dried. Then I used fiberglass resin and mat to make a form of the a pillar. I trimmed the plastic gauge pod down to a close fit and then glassed over it overlapping the A-pillar piece. That way the gauge pod mounts without screws by sliding over the A-pillar.
I still need to fill some areas with Bondo body filler and repaint. I think I'm going to paint it black instead of tan. Here are some photos of the test fit...
Also, I used a 30 amp relay to wire the gauge off of the headlight circuit. While I was at it, I ran a single 10 gauge power wire from the battery through the grommet where the hood release cable is routed and installed an auxiliary fuse panel under the dash. That way all of my accessories are run independently from the vehicle wiring. I have heard too many horror stories of electrical gremlins showing up after tapping the vehicle wiring. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I'm pleased with it overall. Now I just have to smooth it out and find a color I like.
All of this fiberglass work has gotten me thinking about making a Saudi spec grille. I'm probably going to get started on that in the next couple weeks. I'll let you know how it turns out...
