Default Dodgy VIN

So I got the following VIN for a D2

SALTP1947UA829984 and when I looked it up I got the following on Clifton Scientific Text Services, the Netherlands

Model: NAS Discovery Series II
Model Specification: HSE model, 5-seater
Body Type: 5-door, closed (station wagon, hard top)
Engine Type: 4.6 litre V8 petrol
LHD, 4 speed auto, 6000lb
checksum ok
unknown year code
solihull

I thought maybe it could be a V instead of the U, but then the checksum doesnt work AND that would mean 1997 (There shouldnt be 1997 DIIs, right?)

Anyone know what this could mean?

DII's were not produced until halfway through 1999. I'm trying to do a search for you too, but I'm not coming up with anything yet.

There could be multiple points of error that will throw off the vin decoder. Do you have a photo of the vin on the driver door or dash?

No, someone copied it down and sent it to me, I'll ask them to check again but they sent two and one of them was alright. Oh btw, I'm thinking of getting a subscription to get detailed reports, what website would you recommend?

The U is probably a Y, since they are right next to each other on the keyboard.

If I make it a 2004, the checksums work: SALTP19474A829984

Is it Silver? that VIN is for a Zambezi silver D2.
