Default Dome light turns off too soon??

So I have 2000 disco 2 that seems to have an issue with the dome light not staying on. Once I open the doors it will turn off in @5-7 secs. I’ve searched dome light issues most problems I have seen are the opposite... it won’t turn off. Any ideas?
thanks

Maybe read up in the rave These things are all programmed into the computer and probably certain things make it stay on or longer or not at all

The length of time the interior lamps remain illuminated is controlled by the BCU. I don't believe you can adjust it.

From the RAVE Electrical Library, Interior Lamps section - "The Body Control Unit (BCU) is programmed to operate the interior lamps and the ignition illumination for a predetermined period after a door has been opened or an unlock request is made with the handset."

That said, I just checked how long the interior lights stay on in my truck. I opened the door, sat in the driver's seat and closed the door. The interior lights started to dim at about 15 secs. after I closed the door and were out fully by about 18 seconds.

Thanks for the feed back!! So I download the rave manual and yes I saw that the Bcu seems to control the light. So it looks like the door open is supposed to last 10min. All the other times are fine on my disco. So do I assume I have replace the bcu to get those 10 min? What scanner can reads the bcu?
thanks

I checked my Nanocom and there is no interior bulb timer change option for the BCU.

The Hawkeye and the Nanocom can change BCU settings, but as Juke said there is no BCU setting to change the length of time the interior lights stay on.

Where did you find the reference to 10 minutes, please? That seems like an insanely long period of time. Before replacing the BCU to get the lights to stay on longer I'd just buy a flashlight.

Thanks for the reply. I found it on page 1317 of rave manual. Yeah it is more of a nuisance when you loading yon the back with groceries or whatever for that matter the light turn off and you can’t see what’s what. So I’d figure it could be easy fix.... maybe not.😳

This!
@scout13 … Since having a Disco 2, I am confident you have other pertinent maintenance items that can be accomplished rather than spending valuable time hunting down a interior light timer fault. lol

If you are into wiring and programming, you could easily make an 'adjustable light timer' using an Adafruit trinket M0 or similar......

or get one of these:
Amazon Amazon

Check your door switches too... one may constantly be active...

I believe the near to 8-10 minute dome light-on is when the rear gate is left open. Passenger doors have a shorter period. Keyswitch actions change times too.
