Default dome lights 2001 discovery

For the past year my dome lights have not worked. I have replaced bulbs, checked fuses, and tried different positions of the switch. Tonight I noticed with the light covers off and the switch in the on position that the wire in the bulbs was glowing but very very dim. I then moved through the on off and door position and noticed the red light around the key ring also turned off in the off position with nothing working on the door position. Any idea where I should start to fix the dome lights

I had issues with my dome lights not working and I had corrosion in 3 harness headers. They were im the passengers side foot well.

Thanks Jared for proving my point. Every time I ask a question there is usually 1 or 2 helpful responses and about 20 from people like you who have to post a comment on every reply. Sorry if I offended some of you but maybe you should read some the responses that got me fired up. Thanks for the "helpful comment" I'll check the plugs and let you know.

Mine didn't work for a while; turned out to be a connection up above the headliner for me. You might be able to check it out without the headliner down.

Update. Checked all the wires under the passenger side under that flap. Did notice there were 2 large plugs that were not connected to anything but could not find any spot to plug them in so I figured they might just be extras for different models. Also while messing with the switch I noticed it actually was barely glowing in the door position nothing on the on or off also the red ring around key switch lights only on the door position.

They are not large unused plugs. They are called headers.

Try removing the black wrap around the harness behind and to the left of the blower motor.

This is what I found: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...-repair-57435/

In the 1st post I have the header numbers that I had issues with them. The RAVE will provide you with more details on them. Download the RAVE if you have not done so.

Might help might not.. While I had my headliner out I noticed lots of corrosion on the leads for the dome lights. (Leaky sunroof syndrome) the grounds and the small plugs where all green and nasty.
