Door lock then unlocks 1996
Hello all,
I just purchased a 1996 Discovery SE with 118K miles and I am trying to work out some gremlins out of her.
When I lock the driver's side door with the key, the door locks then unlocks. I end up having to keep the key in the lock position so the lock doesn't unlock, then I walk around and lock the rest of the doors manually.
Is this a common issue? (I searched for an answer, but could not find one).
Any suggesions will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Thanks Chris.
The other doors are definitely closed. The dome light doesn't turn on when any of the doors open.
I was thinking that I might have to take the driver's door apart to fix something in there.

you may want to just spray a Very small amount of WD-40 on each of the pin switches and "pop" tem in and out with your finger, dont know if that will help but when troubleshooting bad door triggers thats always my first step.
I deal with aftermarket companies and needed a doorlock actuator so I grabbed one of my DEI actuators from my toolbox and installed it. Went in pretty easy (granted I have done many in the past) but you can by these from most local mobile install shops (Best buy will probably sell you one if you ask) but atlantic british is the place to go if you want to stay stock.
AB is going to be your best price for a factory replacement part which is also going to be the easiest installation. An aftermarket unit will work such as Rover Chris suggested but won't be a simple plug-in installation like the factory part.
if you do go aftermarket buy a good one (I suggest a high powered from DEI)I think they are about $20 retail but not sure, just connect the blue and green wires to the 2 wires attached to the old actuator, 1 way will work the other will be backwards
I believe that Rover Chris is right why I have a door lock gremlin. The door lock actuator is working properly, I took it out and it works just fine. The motor and mechanism work, no broken parts inside. The micro switchinside works. Basically when I lock the driver's side door, all four doors lock then immediately unlock. I tested the driver's door pin switch and it is making contact. But another gremlin I am trying to work out is that my dome light does not come on when the door opens. The dome switch is set in the middle, which should turn the light on when the door opens, because because the other positions sayOFF and ON. Middle should be door select right?
When i pushed the driver's door pin switch there is a clicking noise which is coming from the center of the dash. I can't tell where and why that click, which is slight, is happening. I am certain that it is not clicking from the door pin switch, because I disconnected it and grounded the wire and I heard the same clicking noise.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

the doors will do that if the drivers door is open, might want to check the drivers door pin switch (make sure the dome light goes off)
