Door Locks, Windshield Wiper, and very slow Oil Leak Repairs
My Discovery: 2001 LE SII 136K
I have a scheduled appointmentthis Wednesdaywith a local auto shop that supposedly works on Land Rovers. He is planning on looking at the following things. Here is their website........http://www.ozarkimport.net/index.html
1.When usingkeyor button to lock/unlock doors-both doors on drivers side will not lock/unlock. I have to manually unlock/lock them.
2. When operating my frontwindshieldwipersthey hesitate(1 1/2 seconds) then work, and turn on back windshield wipers sometimes. Not sure what to think of that.
3. I have a small oil leak.
Question: Before I stroll up to this shop w/ohaving any feedback or reviews from the web on them-is there anything you all suggest I can do to prepare for this?
Thanks

You need new door lock actuators.
The rear wiper will come on when the front wipers are on and the transmission is in reverse.
Wipers acting up could be a bad wiper switch or a bad wiper motor.
The oil leak could be anything.
Can you tell us where the oil leak is coming from?

i gotta imagine the only thing that could be leaking at the rear of the block and low like that would be the sender unit. but the sender is up near the filter. if that is the case it is a easy'ish fix.
a door actuator is a easy replacement.
and depending on the temp outside the wiper switch will act goofy. in the 30 degree temps we have here in seattle my wipers do not work right until the heat in the cabin is warmed up. when it was 20 degrees for 2 weeks straight here they did not work right at all. on a 50 degree day they are perfecto.
i suspect you could be in the same boat with the wiper switch.

Go and buy a 8 mm 12 point 1/4" drive socket and snug the bolts on the valve covers, they will stop leaking then.
It will cost you $3.
Just snug them, NOT tighten them.
